A WordPress developer with a designer’s eye

Handing a design to a developer is often where an agency project starts to drift. Spacing gets approximated, type gets swapped, and the site your client signed off isn’t quite the site that goes live.

I spent 11 years as a magazine art director, so I read a design the way your designers do. Spacing, type scales and image treatment are built as designed, and when something won’t work on a small screen I’ll suggest a fix rather than quietly changing it.

Every site is a hand-coded custom WordPress theme, built for speed and accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, with blocks that let your client edit content without breaking the design. It’s work you can put your agency’s name to.

Why agencies work with me

Figma (or any design) to finished website, faithfully

The build matches the design your client approved, down to the detail, because I care about it as much as your designers do.

One senior developer

No juniors, no handovers and no offshore relay. You deal directly with the person writing the code.

Code your team can pick up

Themes are built on theme.json with CSS organised using CUBE CSS, under version control and documented, so your developers can maintain and extend the site after handover.

Extra capacity when you need it

Bring me in for a single build, a busy patch or ongoing work across your client sites, without adding to your headcount.

Clear communication

Questions raised early, progress shared on staging, and straight answers about what’s possible within budget.

What I do for agencies

Figma to WordPress, or any design format

Your designs built as a custom WordPress theme, matching spacing, type and interactions closely, with sensible decisions where the design doesn’t cover every case. Figma, XD, Sketch, PDFs or wireframes all work.

Custom Gutenberg and ACF blocks

Blocks built around your client’s content, so their team can create new pages that still look like your design.

WooCommerce builds

Online shops, bookings and ticketing for agency clients, with checkout, payments and emails tested properly.

White label web design

With my art direction background, I can fill design gaps, design extra page types in your style, or produce full designs when your studio is at capacity.

Migrations and rebuilds

Moving client sites onto WordPress or onto a cleaner build, with content, URLs and SEO carried across.

Ongoing support for client sites

Maintenance, hosting and development time on the sites you look after, billed to the agency.

How white label development works

  1. Brief

You share the designs and the brief. I review what you have, from finished designs to rough wireframes, and flag questions, edge cases and anything that will be hard to build before quoting.

  2. Quote

A fixed price for the build or a set number of days, agreed before work starts, so you can price your own proposal with confidence.

  3. Build

I build on a staging site you can share with your client, with regular check-ins through your usual tools, whether that’s Slack, email or a project board.

  4. Review

Your team and your client review against the designs, and I work through the feedback until it matches what was signed off.

  5. Launch and handover

Launch, editor training if your client needs it, and documentation for your team, plus ongoing support if you want it.

What clients say about working with me

Rated 5.0 out of 5 on Google (opens in a new tab)

Leon is a pleasure to work with. He is unique in that he has a creative and technical background and so brings a huge amount of experience to each job he does and is able to consider not only the technical aspects but also the creative side.

He is extremely professional and doesn’t just do the bare minimum, he always goes above and beyond on each project.

I would definitely recommend and I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Karen Jones — Occupi Digital

White label WordPress FAQs

What is white label WordPress development?

White label WordPress development means an agency hires a developer to build WordPress sites that the agency presents and sells as its own work. The agency keeps the client relationship and the developer works in the background. I also work openly as part of an agency’s team if that suits you better.

Can you build our Figma designs in WordPress, and what if we don’t use Figma?

Yes. Figma to WordPress is a large part of my agency work, but I also work from Adobe XD, Sketch, PDFs, wireframes, or just a brief and brand guidelines. Finished designs are built as a hand-coded custom theme with Gutenberg or ACF blocks, without page builders. Where the design is incomplete or doesn’t exist yet, I can design it in your style for your sign-off. I check everything before quoting and raise anything unclear early.

Will my client know you built the site?

Only if you want them to. I can work entirely behind the scenes, join calls as part of your team, or be introduced as your WordPress developer. It’s your call.

Do you work with agencies outside London?

Yes. I’m based in North London and work with agencies across the UK. Most work happens remotely, and I can come in for meetings or workshops in London.

What if the designs don’t cover every page or state?

I flag the gaps before building. With a background as a magazine art director, I can design the missing pieces in your style for your sign-off, rather than guessing or holding the project up.

Can you look after the sites after launch?

Yes. I provide ongoing maintenance, hosting and development for agency client sites, billed to the agency. See WordPress support and maintenance.

Why use a freelance WordPress developer instead of an offshore team?

You get one senior developer who reads your designs the way your designers intended, works in your time zone, and answers questions directly. That usually means fewer revision rounds and a build you’re happy to put your name to.
