Support from a developer, not a help desk

Most WordPress problems aren’t dramatic. A plugin update clashes with the theme, a contact form stops sending, the site gets a little slower every month. Left alone, those small things add up to a site that’s fragile, out of date and harder to fix.

I’ve been building and looking after WordPress sites for over 15 years, so maintenance for me isn’t just pressing the update button. I check what an update changes, test the parts of the site that matter to your business, and fix the cause of a problem rather than patching over it.

Because the same person handles your updates and your development work, nothing needs explaining twice. When you want a new page template, a feature or a quick fix, it’s done by someone who already knows how your site fits together.

Why work with me

One developer who knows your site

No ticket queue and no handover between support staff. You email or call me, and I already know the code.

Updates that are checked, not just applied

Each round of updates is followed by a check of the forms, checkouts and pages your business relies on.

Maintenance and development in one place

The same plan covers keeping the site healthy and making it better, so improvements don’t stall for lack of a developer.

Trusted by agencies

Agencies bring me in for WordPress development and support on their client sites, because the work is reliable and the communication is clear.

What WordPress support includes

Core, theme and plugin updates

Updates applied regularly and checked afterwards, so a plugin release doesn’t quietly break a form, a checkout or a layout.

Daily backups

Geo-distributed backups kept for 30 days, so any page, post or whole site can be restored if something goes wrong.

Security and monitoring

SSL, firewall and anti-bot protection, with uptime monitored around the clock and outages dealt with as soon as they happen.

Managed hosting

Fast London-based hosting with caching, a CDN and WebP images. Available on its own or as part of a support plan.

Development time

Hours for content changes, new features, fixes and improvements, from the developer who built or knows the site.

Support for agencies

Ongoing maintenance and development for agency client sites, working behind the scenes or alongside your team.

How WordPress support works

  1. Review

I look over your site, hosting, theme and plugins so I understand how it’s built and spot anything that needs attention first.

  2. Set up

Backups, monitoring and access are put in place, and anything urgent from the review is fixed before routine maintenance begins.

  3. Maintain

Updates, backups and security checks carried out on a regular schedule, tested so nothing breaks unnoticed.

  4. Improve

Development time used for the changes you ask for, plus suggestions when I see something that could work better.

  5. Stay in touch

A direct line to me by email or phone, with outages treated as a priority and everything else handled during business hours.

What clients say about working with me

Rated 5.0 out of 5 on Google (opens in a new tab)

Leon is always very kind and patient and fixes website problems very quickly. He has excellent design skills and I cannot recommend his Built by Leon service more highly.

Hamish Tabor — Isola Rossa Villas

Happy is an understatement. I came to Leon with an issue on my website, he spent time exploring the problem and then solved it in minutes. He charged me an incredibly fair price. Strongly recommended.

Bruce Daisley

I cannot recommend Leon highly enough. He migrated my website to a new, properly optimised host, fixed numerous underlying technical issues, set up security, added GDPR-compliant legal pages and integrated Google Analytics and Search Console.

I will absolutely be using Leon again for future projects and would recommend him without hesitation to any small business owner looking for a trustworthy, skilled and fairly priced web developer.

Marta Zbien — Mustus Consulting

Leon is a pleasure to work with! He always listens and responds promptly to our needs, ensuring all our ideas have been implemented to the highest standards. Both his creative and troubleshooting skills are invaluable, and we look forward to working with him for years to come. We would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for help when designing or developing a new website.

WordPress support FAQs

What does WordPress maintenance actually involve?

Keeping WordPress core, your theme and plugins up to date, taking regular backups, monitoring uptime and security, and fixing anything that breaks. Done properly, it stops small problems turning into an offline site or a security issue.

Can you support a WordPress site you didn’t build?

Yes. Most of the sites I support were built by someone else. I start with a review so I understand the theme, plugins and hosting before taking it on, and I’ll tell you honestly if anything needs fixing first.

Do I have to move my hosting to you?

No. I can maintain your site on your current hosting. If your host is slowing the site down or making updates difficult, I’ll explain why and can move it to my managed WordPress hosting without downtime.

What happens if my site goes down?

Uptime is monitored around the clock and outages are dealt with as soon as possible. Everything else, such as content changes and small fixes, is handled during normal business hours.

Do you provide WordPress support for agencies?

Yes. I work with several agencies who bring me in for WordPress development and ongoing support on their client sites, either behind the scenes or alongside their own team. See white label WordPress development.

Is there a minimum contract?

No. Plans run month to month, so you stay because the support is useful, not because you’re locked in.

Do you look after WooCommerce sites?

Yes. WooCommerce sites need more careful updates because a broken checkout costs sales, so updates are tested against your payments, emails and order flow. See WooCommerce development.
