Accessibility
I want this site to work for everyone, whatever device, browser or assistive technology you use. If something gets in your way, please let me know and I’ll fix it.
The standard I work to
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the same standard I build to for clients.
What’s in place
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, so the site makes sense to screen readers.
- A “Skip to content” link and a visible focus outline, so you can use the whole site with a keyboard.
- Colour contrast checked against WCAG AA for text and controls.
- Descriptive alt text for meaningful images, and empty alt text for decorative ones.
- Labelled form fields, with optional fields clearly marked.
- Animation that switches off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Layouts that adapt to any screen size and still work when you zoom in to 400%.
Changing text size and zoom
Your browser can make any page larger:
- Mac: hold Command (⌘) and press + to zoom in, or – to zoom out.
- Windows and Linux: hold Ctrl and press + to zoom in, or – to zoom out.
- Phones and tablets: pinch to zoom, or increase the text size in your device’s accessibility settings.
Known issues
I’m not aware of any barriers at the moment. If you find one, I’d like to hear about it.
Feedback and contact
If you have trouble using any part of this site, or need information in a different format, please get in touch through the contact page. I aim to reply within one working day.
