Website design and WordPress development for Sound Zero, a London acoustic design and build company

The acoustic experts behind offices, music studios and podcast rooms for the likes of Universal Music and Sonos. Their spaces sound as good as they look, so the website had to look the part too.

The Challenge

Sound Zero design and build acoustic spaces: quieter offices, music studios, podcast and voiceover rooms, and acoustics for hospitality and performance venues. Clients include Universal Music Group, Sonos, Facebook, Rinse FM and Hyperoptic.

Their work has to look good as well as sound right, so the website had to do the same. It needed to feel as considered as the spaces they build, while explaining a technical subject clearly enough for an office manager or a studio owner to see what Sound Zero could do for them and get in touch.

Design and build

I designed the site and built it in WordPress. The design leans on strong photography of finished projects, bold type and a confident colour palette, so the work does the selling. Services are split by audience (office acoustics, music studios, podcast studios, commercial spaces and performance) so each visitor can find the part that applies to them.

The build gives the Sound Zero team control of their own content. They can add case studies, products and blog posts without coming back to me, and the blog has become a steady source of search traffic on topics like studio isolation and podcast studio design. From the start the site was built to load fast and work well on mobile.

The Outcome

Sound Zero now has a site that matches the quality of their work and that the team can run day to day. It presents a technical, design-led business clearly, shows off the client list, and gives prospective clients an easy way to call or get in touch.

I have worked with Leon on a number of sites now and he never fails to deliver. One thing many coders get wrong is the design of a website, it needs to look beautiful as well as function.

Leon understands essentials like page speeds, usability, and mobile optimisation, then combines these with a keen eye for sharp, crisp design.

The results are always spectacular, plus delivered on time and on budget!

I can’t recommend his services highly enough.
